Profit Victim

I was always fascinated and amazed by huge, monumental, and at the same time penetrated with some ancient mystery trees - old-timers. Being next to such a tree, when touching it, you imagine all of its life paths, long in centuries. Starting from the seeds to the smallest stem and first leaf. You start to think about how this tree fought against the weather, storms, heat, how the snow broke its branches under its weight... How many parasites, wars, and people were around, but it survived. For how many millions of animals, plants and insects did it serve as a home, lodging for the night, or simply provided a cozy day for them to shade on a hot summer day. (on a tree, aged 500 years, can live more than 250 species of animals, at the same time) For how many it was the whole universe, the place of birth and death ...
And now, the time has come to die for this tree, but not from old age, no, it would still turn green for a couple of hundred years, but from human greed and its sharp saw, in the name of momentary profit and selfishness, self-interest. What grew, survived for 500 years, was destroyed in the blink of an eye, loaded onto a truck and sent to a sawmill to build another human hut that burns out next season from the effects of climate change.
