Funeral rites have existed since ancient times when a person was able to realize the phenomenon of death in a metaphysical context. Many concepts of "what is happening on the other side" and the "transition process" have been generated by the wild fantasy of Homo sapiens over these tens of thousands of years. And, I must say, none of them is completely founded and is not confirmed in any way. Everything is done ruled by belief, and in the name of some kind of reinsurance, it will not be superfluous. "You came to our culture, and with its own stigma, we will guide you back." Despite this, all these rudimentary rituals exist to this day, without undergoing any special changes. Well, you can close your eyes to this, words will no longer harm the dead, and sometimes it is useful for the living to say goodbye to dead ones. The material aspect of all this action is different in most religions and traditions. Zinc coffins, luxurious artificial upholstery, precious metals, rare woods, and the dead man himself is often better dressed than when he was alive, and in synthetic modern clothes. Waste of colossal resources and utter disrespect for the living, the dead, and entropy. It will take the earthly womb more than one thousand years to somehow digest it, and the atoms of the deceased are preserved in an artificial capsule, without the possibility of becoming part of a new life. A rational move would be to consider an ecological funeral, where the naked body is placed in a case made of a vine / light eco material, or along with a plant that will use the dead man as its mineral base.
P.S. It is especially relevant at the present time of the war in Ukraine, where the corpses of russian occupying soldiers are so eager to serve as fertilizer for the legendary Ukrainian black soil.
